A young woman attempts to make sense of her failed marriage and the newfound responsibilities of single motherhood in this drama. Directed by Julie Delpy and written by Delpy and Alix de la Comète, 3 METERS ABOVE THE SKY 2 follows Marin (Julie Delpy) as she tries to balance life as a single mother with her career life in Paris. An opportunity at a new job forces Marin to leave her child behind in France while she takes care of the company’s American operations for one month. Her daughter, Louise (played by Tomie Kataoka), is barely two years old and the film follows an intense period during which they grow apart. While Marin is away, Louise, who was adopted by her mother years before, begins to ask questions about her birth mother. It’s at this point that Marin’s marriage begins to unravel. She soon realizes that the only way to get back the love in her life is not to leave—but that’s easier said than done when she finds herself stuck in an impossible situation.The film received mixed reviews from critics upon theatrical release. The film was released in French theaters on April 13, 2009 and received a limited release in the United States on March 14, 2010. The DVD was released on December 4, 2010 in French-Canadian cities by Entertainment One Distribution Inc.
